A disturbance aloft combined with a lee trough over western North Carolina led to isolated to scattered showers and storms over the Piedmont, Sandhills, and Coastal Plain in the early evening hours. Most of the storms were sub-severe, but a few damaging wind reports and flash flooding were reported in Wake and Johnston Counties.
