A surface cold front crossing the Central Plains provided a focus for evening thunderstorm development across south central Nebraska. Conditions ahead of the front were favorable for severe thunderstorms, with penny to half dollar size hail reported, along with heavy rain and flash flooding. Storms ended across the area during the late evening hours as the cold front shifted further east.
