Thunderstorms that produced heavy rainfall with between 2 to 4 inches of moisture on June 2nd were responsible for the flooding along tributaries and portions of the main stem of the Big Sioux river. Between June 3rd through June 6th the Big Sioux near Castlewood was in flood, with a peak of 10.34 feet at 9pm CST on June 4th, which mainly impacted agricultural land and low lying areas, although flooding did impact portions of 184th street.
