Convection initiation on June 1st was fairly typical summertime with storms developing along sea breeze boundaries in the late morning hours. These storms began to grow upscale as daytime heating persisted combined with ample instability and moisture in place. Storms became more widespread and intense as a more organized complex moved into the local forecast area from southwest Louisiana. A handful of storms intensified enough to produce severe hail and damaging winds.
