A low pressure system located across eastern New Mexico brought in an abundance of moisture aloft to the southern and western Texas Panhandle. The high amounts of moisture provided by the low pressure system created a tropical type environment allowing heavy rain showers to develop and move from southeast to northwest across the southern Texas Panhandle.
