Hurricane Debby maintained Category 1 strength, with maximum sustained winds of 70 knots, as it brushed portions of east central Florida and made landfall near Steinhatchee, Florida during the morning August 5th. Sustained wind speeds generally reached 25 to 35 mph with gusts frequently reaching 40 to 50 mph.
