A cluster of thunderstorms developed in an area of uncapped elevated instability over southeast Kansas on July 11, 2024 and moved into southwest Missouri during the early morning of July 12. As a result, heavy rainfall between 4.0 and 7.70 inches fell in Jasper County, causing flash flooding. An estimated 2-3 feet of water was flowing through the ballfields at Landreth Park, with a water rescue performed in Jasper County.
