A cluster of thunderstorms initiated across south-central Louisiana in response to high instability. This cluster of thunderstorms moved eastward while interacting with mid-level dry air. That dry air helped produced severe downdraft winds as the cluster moved through southeast Louisiana, southern Mississippi, and the adjacent marine areas. This complex also produced heavy rain in New Orleans which led to some flash flooding.
