Thunderstorms initiated along a cold front during the late afternoon across southern Mississippi. This complex of thunderstorms made its way southward into southeast Louisiana. These thunderstorms produced heavy rainfall in a short amount of time in New Orleans, causing flash flooding across the city. They also produced gusty winds over the waters before dissipating.
