A surface front lingered from near St. Augustine to Gainesville with an approaching upper level trough. The upper trough cooled temperatures aloft while high atmospheric moisture continued over the area. Convergent bands of locally heavy rainfall and isolated embedded thunderstorms developed across NE FL as onshore flow increased as high pressure wedged southward from the north and the local pressure gradient increased.
