An upper level disturbance moved southeast across Iowa, northeast Missouri, and Illinois during the evening of July 27 bringing showers and thunderstorms to the region. Some of the thunderstorms surpassed severe thresholds by producing damaging winds over 60 mph. Torrential rains and subsequent flash flooding problems were also observed.
