Tropical Storm Fay, which came ashore just northeast of Apalachicola, Florida during the early morning of the 23rd, slowly weakened as it moved west-northwest across the Florida Panhandle during the day. Its rainbands generated very heavy rainfall and peak wind gusts over 40 mph throughout southeast Alabama. Rainfall amounts from Fay during the 48-hour period ending at midnight on the 25th ranged from three to eight inches. A peak wind gust of 41 knots was measured at Napier Field in Dale Cou
