An area of slow moving showers and thunderstorms produced up to 6 inches of rain in 3 hours resulting in flash flooding on Ames Brook in Ashland which rose rapidly and flooded the Ames Brook Campground. A family trying to escape the flooded campground drove over a bridge on the brook just as it was washed away. Tragically a 7 year old girl was killed and her mother and brother were injured.
