After slamming into the Gulf coast, Hurricane Ike weakened slowly as it moved north. Several counties in east Texas received damaging winds from the storm. Sustained winds of 25-35 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH were reported for several hours as T.S. Ike moved east of the area. Power lines, trees, and large limbs were blown down, causing damage to vehicles and structures.
