Moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Lowell and Hurricane Ike moved into the region and interacted with a stationary boundary to bring heavy rainfall to portions of northern Indiana starting on the 11th, extending into the early morning hours of the 15th. Several areas received six to as much as 12 inches of rain, especially across portions of Laporte, St Joseph and Elkhart counties.
