Strong low pressure moved from near Chicago on the morning of November 24th, to near Buffalo on the morning of November 25th, spreading snow into Maine. Snow changed to rain during the afternoon of November 25th as the storm continued slowly moving northeast. Rainfall of 4 inches in the foothills of Maine in combination with melting snow caused small rivers and streams as well as some main stem rivers to rise rapidly. A portion of Elm Street in Mercer washed away when Indian Stream rose rapidly
