A major thaw and additional rainfall resulted in rapid snowmelt and runoff resulting in several area creeks exceeding their flood stage. Two to five inches of water in the snowpack quickly melted as temperatures climbed into the upper 50s and 60s. Ellicott Creek at Williamsville (flood stage 8 feet) crested at 8.3 feet.
