Flood — Lorain, OH

Feb 8, 2009

A long stretch of below normal temperatures allowed a deep snowpack and significant river ice cover to develop in northern Ohio during January and early February. Unseasonably warm weather February 7th and 8th caused a rapid melting of the snowpack, increasing streamflows and causing ice jams on many rivers tributary to Lake Erie.
