The annual spring river ice break up resulted in extensive flooding along the Kuskokwim river over the 11 days it took for the river to open up from its head waters in the Kuskokwim Valley to the mouth of the Kuskokwim River on the Bering Sea coast. Damage estimates are from the State of Alaska Disaster disaster declaration request to the President.
