A large thunderstorm complex moved from eastern Kentucky into West Virginia during the late afternoon on the 8th. In the wake of that feature, a strong upper air disturbance helped refire convection over southern Kentucky. Those thunderstorms moved east into far western Virginia just after dark. The upper air feature helped obtain rotation in the storms. An EF0 tornado touched down just north of Clintwood with mainly tree damage. This was only the second recorded tornado for Dickenson Count
