As a warm front moved from northern Mississippi northeastward into southwestern portions of Middle Tennesee during the late afternoon hours, the airmass became moist and unstable. Southerly surface flow also developed, and with the influences of daytime heating, produced severe thunderstorms across Lawrence and Wayne Counties. These severe thunderstorms resulted in several reports of large hail and thunderstorm wind damage, along with flash flooding in Wayne County.
