A cold front pushed through Iowa and Illinois during the afternoon and evening of June 19, bringing severe thunderstorms and flooding to much of the area. After seeing generally sunny skies for much of the day, thunderstorms developed and raced east across the area during the late afternoon and early evening hours. An upper level disturbance tracked over Iowa and northern Missouri April 17th and 18th, bringing several rounds of showers and thunderstorms to the region. Heavy rains of 3 to 7 inches were recorded over the 48 hour period. This resulted in widespread flash flooding.
