A cold front approached the Mid-South on Independence Day 2009. Showers and thunderstorms developed out ahead of the front during the late afternoon and early evening hours on the 4th. The storms continued into the morning hours of July 5th before dissipating. A few of these storms became severe with large hail, damaging winds, and flash flooding.
