Widespread showers and thunderstorms continued into the predawn and early morning hours of July 17th across northeast Texas. Some of these storms were able to tap a low level jet which developed during the overnight hours and produced very heavy rainfall rates. A few of these storms also reached severe limits and downed trees and powerlines.
