Jul 1, 2009
Five to seven inches of rain fell across southeast New London County from late morning into the early afternoon on July 1, 2009. Very wet conditions also preceded this event with rainfall 2 1/2 to 3 inches above normal in Connecticut during the month of June. All of this rain caused Sylvias Pond Dam to overtop and prompted an unscheduled release at the Mystic Reservoir Dam leading to downstream flooding.
