The strong pressure gradient associated with a deep area of low pressure that moved across the Great Lakes on December 9th, brought strong and gusty winds to eastern Kentucky. Widespread moderate to sometimes intense rain showers led to some flooding problems around the area as well. Numerous reports of downed trees and power lines were received, inspite of the fact that the winds came up just short of warning criteria.
