During the late afternoon and evening of December 8th, and the overnight hours of the 9th, severe storms and an isolated tornado occurred across the ArkLaMiss region. There were reports of hail, wind damage and some flash flooding. One of the strongest storms moved northeast over Leake county. A slow moving low pressure system moved northeast from the High Plains region toward the Great Lakes between May 8th and 9th. Two shortwave troughs moving east ahead of this low pressure system initiated squall lines that spread eastward across much of the Gulf Coast region.
