A strong negatively tilted short wave was rotating through the mid-south into the eastern Tennessee valley early on the 21st. Strong shear and marginal instability provided ample support for a few strong thunderstorms. A narrow squall line moved through west central and southwest Georgia early in the day bringing heavy rain and strong wind gusts.
