A slow moving storm system translated eastward from the desert southwest across the southern Rockies and plains on the 15th and 16th. Lift and moisture associated with this system resulted in widespread showers and thunderstorms that overspread portions of the west Texas Permian Basin, South Plains, and the Panhandle early on the 15th.
