A deep upper level trough was nearly stationary across south central Texas with thunderstorms developing to the north and east of the trough during the morning hours of June 9th. The storms propagated into northeast Texas during the afternoon of the 9th and encountered a very unstable airmass. These storms become widespread across the region into the afternoon and evening hours of the 9th and produced large hail along with damaging thunderstorm wind gusts.
