A Mesoscale Convective System developed along a surface wave over Illinois and Indiana during mid to late afternoon. It evolved into a squall line as it moved into the area, although there were some discrete storms that developed out ahead of the squall line. The squall line weakened as it progressed east across the area through the evening hours.
