Thunderstorms developed in a southwest to northeast line along a cold front that pushed across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa during the late afternoon and evening of July 14th. Ahead of the front temperatures climbed into the mid 90s with dew point temperatures in the mid 70s to around 80. This created a very unstable environment for the storms.
