Saturated ground, snowmelt from warm weather and additional rainfall resulted in ideal conditions for spring flooding. Thirteen of the area river and creek forecast points exceeded flood stage. On Cattaraugs Creek, over one hundred residents had to be evacuated at Sunset Bay and Swamp Road in East Otto was closed due to flood waters.
