Moisture was drawn north into Iowa during the overnight hours of the 6th into the 7th. The freezing level rose to around 14,500 feet as precipitable water rose to 1.5 to 2 inches. The atmosphere was weakly sheared, in the 20 to 25 kt range, with about 2000 J/kg of CAPE available. There was a decent amount of low level CAPE, in the 100 to 300 J/kg range, which favored the production of landspouts.
