An upper level disturbance sliding across the Rio Grande Valley combined with a hot humid air mass which, aided by a westward moving sea breeze, allowed strong to severe thunderstorms to develop rapidly over the Lower and Middle Rio Grande Valley during the afternoon of Monday, June 7, 2010. A damaging microburst, several funnel clouds, large hail, and urban and flash flooding occurred between 245 PM CST and a little after 5 PM CST.
