During the late afternoon hours, a nearly stationary, east-to-west surface boundary was anchored near the Nebraska and Kansas state line. With a large mid-level trough poised to the west across the Central Rockies, the environment was at least somewhat supportive of isolated severe weather given impressive deep-layer shear values around 60 knots, and SBCAPE increasing to around 1000 J/kg.
