A large complex of showers and thunderstorms slowly moved eastward across the eastern plains of New Mexico during the early morning hours of the 16th. Rainfall amounts around 2 inches were common, with isolated areas receiving up to 5 inches. The flooding closed many roadways around Roswell and Portales.
