Isolated strong thunderstorms developed during the midday hours in far northern Alabama, then dropped south through the late afternoon hours. One particular storm dumped very heavy rainfall that resulted in isolated flash flooding in the city of Cullman. Over 2 inches of rain fell in less than an hour, with totals exceeding 3 inches.
