Thunderstorms developed along a stationary front over the western North Carolina piedmont during the early morning hours. The training storms produced very heavy rain from Shelby to the Charlotte metro area, which resulted in flash flooding. Later in the day thunderstorms again developed over the region. The storms produced more flash flooding over the North Carolina piedmont, northeast of Charlotte. A couple of the storms became pulse severe, producing a little wind damage.
