Several periods of moderate to heavy rain in eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa combined with snow melt runoff in the upper Missouri basin brought increased flows along the Missouri River downstream of Omaha. The river around and downstream of Nebraska City climbed above flood stage around the middle of the month and the lowland flooding continued into May.
