Several episodes of heavy rain in eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa combined with high flows upstream from snow melt and rain brought a prolonged period of flooding along the Missouri River, initially generally downstream of Plattsmouth, but by the end of the month it affected areas upstream as well. The flooding mainly affected marshy areas and farmland along the river, but a few roads and recreation areas were also flooded and the flooding got progressively worse in June.
