During the evening and nighttime hours of May 11th, an area of low pressure located over southern Wisconsin slowly progressed northeast over the upper Great Lakes. A frontal boundary extended southeast of the low, across portions of Indiana into southern Ohio. That frontal boundary lifted north during the day on May 12 and stalled directly over northern Ohio.
