A cold, unstable upper atmospheric disturbance and surface cold front moved across the Champlain Valley during the mid to late afternoon of August 10th. Several thunderstorms developed but only a few produced large hail or damaging winds. Hail size up to half dollar size was reported near Middlebury in Addison county and a local microburst in Shelburne (Chittenden county) knocked down a dozen or so trees.
