Thunderstorms developed across western Minnesota the afternoon of Tuesday, August 16th. These thunderstorms continued to develop eastward across central Minnesota, and into east central Minnesota, and west central Wisconsin. A few of the thunderstorms began to train across central and east central Minnesota, mainly between St. Cloud and the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities during the late afternoon and evening hours.
