An upper level disturbance and weak, nearly stalled frontal boundary helped to produce scattered showers and thunderstorms during the heating the afternoon and early evening. Some of the storms became severe, producing large hail and damaging wind gusts. Heavy rains from the storms also caused flash flooding across portions of Lackawanna and Wayne counties, where 3 to 5 inches of rain fell.
