Scattered severe thunderstorms developed over Southeast Oklahoma, Southwest Arkansas, and extreme Northwest Louisiana during the late afternoon and evening of the 18th. These storms developed in a very warm, moist, and unstable atmosphere, near a weak inverted surface trough that extended southeast across the area.
