Remnants of Tropical Storm Lee moved northeast through the Tennessee Valley. Strong shear on the east side of the system was responsible for generating numerous rotating thunderstorms. Some of these produced severe weather in the form of damaging winds. The rotation was strong enough in one of the storms to produce a tornado in Carroll County. A complex, broken line of thunderstorms developed during the afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front producing very heavy rainfall and some embedded severe storms. Trees were blown trees onto power lines, which caused a number of power outages.
