Remnants of Tropical Storm Lee moved northeast through the Tennessee Valley. Strong shear on the east side of the system was responsible for generating numerous rotating thunderstorms. One rotating storm produced a tornado in Wilkes County near Abshers. Other storms produced severe weather in the form of damaging winds. Very heavy rain was also associated with the system.
