A series of thunderstorms with torrential downpours caused small stream and poor drainage flash flooding across northwest New Jersey during the morning of the 28th. Event precipitation totals in the heavier band that extended from northern Hunterdon County northeastward through the border of Sussex and Morris Counties averaged 3 to 5 inches. The runoff from the heavy rain then caused some stream and smaller river flooding in northwest New Jersey that lasted into the 30th.
