During the evening hours of July 17, thunderstorms began forming over parts of northeast Iowa. These storms continued into the early morning hours of July 18, producing significant flash flooding. Rainfall totaled 9.47 inches and 8.09 inches of rain respectively in McGregor and Marquette (Clayton County).
